One afternoon, in October, I took a drive with my dog Koda to the old neighborhood on the East Side. I parked the car at "Dago Park" where I hung out as a kid, and we proceeded to walk down my old street, Avenue L. 9729 was the address of the house that I grew up in. This song remembers all the wonderful people and places that I loved.
lyrics
Woke up feelin', could use some healin', took a ride through my old neighborhood
Sippin' a soda, walking Koda, some of it looked the same, some not so good
Small town hero, just like De Niro
Johnny boy's coming home, Johnny boy's coming home to 9729
From Paulie's driveway, saw the Skyway, and every house on this street, I knew by heart
Kept on roamin', saw my old home and, it still sits behind in back of the yard
Small town singer, church bell ringer
Draggin' me back to St. George, draggin' me back to St. George, near 9729
Ghosts and memories, friends and enemies, though they are gone, they seem more alive than dead
Small town dreamer, rock n' roll screamer, this boy came a rollin' home, this boy came a rollin' home, to 9729
