about

This song was written in honor of my dear friend Eddie Ivancich who passed away in February of 2020. Eddie was the most loyal and helpful friend who roadied with many bands and was very well known in the Chicago music community. Eddie truly loved to help people and had a deep passion for the music he was involved in. He is dearly missed.

lyrics

I pulled up to the gate under the wire, looks like I lost air in my front tire
I had lots of sleep, still I was tired, but you know the show must go on.

And I can't find my strings, yeah I forget some things
But Eddie's gone

I can hear him now telling jokes and fables, laughing as he's wrapping up my cables
Looking down from the stage at the front tables, but i guess the show must still go on

And I could use a hand, someone's missing in my band
Since Eddie's gone

Always had his back-stage pass, always saved the best for last, the best for last

I had trouble singing my last song, it was one he loved to sing-a-long
Never thought he'd miss a show, I was wrong, and now I must go on

I still can't find my strings, he helped with everything
And now, Eddie's gone
